Why consider eContract instead of DocuSign?

Four layers on every signature

Every signed PDF carries the signer’s certificate-based signature, the organization seal, the eContract platform seal and an RFC 3161 timestamp.

Tamper-evident documents

If a signed PDF is changed after signing, its signatures no longer match and verification reports it. Audit trail events are hash-chained, so edits to the log can be detected.

Public verification

Anyone can check a signed PDF at econtract.online/verify — no account needed.

A certificate authority per workspace

Each workspace gets its own certificate authority under the eContract root (an internal PKI). Certificate details are shown on the verification page.

API, webhooks and MCP for AI agents

Automate contracts with the REST API (API key or OAuth 2.1) and webhooks, or connect AI agents to the MCP server. Agents prepare and send; a person always signs.

Free to Use

Every feature is free today, with fair-use limits. No credit card, no per-user fees, no contract lock-in. If paid plans come later, you will hear from us at least 30 days in advance.

eContract vs DocuSign — FAQ

How does eContract’s signature security compare with DocuSign?

eContract adds four layers to every signed PDF: a signature with an X.509 certificate from the workspace’s certificate authority, an organization seal, a platform seal and an RFC 3161 timestamp, plus a hash-chained audit trail and a public verification page. DocuSign has its own security features and certifications; check its website for current details.

Can I migrate from DocuSign to eContract?

You can upload PDF and DOCX documents and templates to eContract and send them for signature, by hand or through the REST API. Contracts already signed with DocuSign keep their original signatures and audit trail there, so keep a copy of them.

What does eContract’s audit trail record?

Each event — created, sent, viewed, signed, declined — is logged with the time, IP address and browser, and linked to the previous event by a hash, so changes to the log can be detected. Signed PDFs also carry an RFC 3161 timestamp from a timestamp authority.
